Getting around Bahía Ballena

Famous for its whale tail rock formation and humpback whale sightings, formally established in 1992, protects 5331 ha and has 15km of beautiful beaches. Stunning sunsets, turtles, dolphins are also part of its attractions.

Probably the most impressive waterfalls in the country and just 30 minutes away from Karandi. To add to the experience, an amazing hiking trail leads you to the waterfalls. You can either walk or ride a horse to complete it.

The closest from the Hostel. Perfect  for surfing, swimming and taking either sunrise or sunset walks. Worth a visit too, beaches such as Dominicalito, Dominical, Hermosa and Ventanas. All of them, with its own and unique beauty.

From July to October and December to February, humpback whales come to visit us. It is possible to watch them from the coast or in a boat. Breathtaking experience and Bahia Ballena´s signature activity. 

+180 birds species can be seen in Karandi Forest. Take a moment to admire these incredible creatures and you might spot the latest species in our visit´s catalog.

Shuttle picks you up at 6:30 am for an hour drive to Sierpe River. You will get through the mangroves and into the ocean towards Caño Island to snorkel in a couple of spots. Lunch, insurance, entrance fee all included.
